5 Tips to Make the Most of Your Facebook Marketing Presence

5 Tips to Make the Most of Your Facebook Marketing Presence

Facebook serves as an excellent marketing resource for businesses of all types nowadays, including managed service providers—assuming that the MSP in question is utilizing Facebook to its full potential. We wanted to share a few basic practices that can help you get the most out of using the social network for your business’ benefit.

Post Strategically

When it comes to Facebook, when and how often you post are critically important.

In terms of how often, you want to hit the Goldilocks zone—not too much, not too little, but just right. Posting too much from your business can actually become irritating to your followers, encouraging them to unfollow your business. Post too little, and you’re missing your opportunity to keep your services top of mind amongst your prospects and existing clientele. Generally speaking, common advice is that a business should post about 5 times each week, but this can vary depending on the audience you are trying to reach…and is also impacted by special occasions, where you may want to share additional content surrounding events or milestones regarding your business.

As for when you should be posting, it is also important to keep in mind who you are trying to talk to, and what times they’re most likely to be checking their Facebook. You may be surprised to hear that lunchtime often isn’t a great time to post. Sure, people are checking Facebook as they take their midday meal, but the engagement rate for these posts is too low to be of much value.

Some trial and error is likely to be helpful to determining your optimal posting schedule, but you can also use data to your advantage. The posts section of your business’ Facebook Page insights can give you your average post traffic at different times to help guide your strategy moving forward.

Use the Available Business Tools to Your Advantage

Facebook, and to a larger degree, Meta, provide businesses with an assortment of tools and resources to help build your marketing’s efficacy on Facebook… starting with a verified business page.

The little blue checkmark that appears next to your business’ name broadcasts to those who view it that what is shared on your Facebook page is coming from your business directly. It’s a small thing, but your marketing needs to be consistent, and small touches are easier to make more consistently. In order to obtain this blue checkmark, you’ll need to submit some documentation to Facebook to prove the legitimacy of your business, but the Facebook Search boost you’ll get can certainly help make it all worth it.

Meta also offers a knowledge base through their Meta Business Suite, which shares some best practices to help manage your business’ accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

Focus on Building Your Client Relationships

It can be too easy to make the mistake of allowing your business’ Facebook to become just another outlet for you to shout your brand’s selling points at your audience. You need to remember that Facebook is a social media platform, even when used for business purposes. It gives you the opportunity to open a dialogue with your prospects and existing clients alike… and, with over half of Facebook users actively seeking out these dialogues, this is an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up.

Be sure to answer any question posed to you via your Facebook, responding to feedback and encouraging your audience to reach out. Just make sure you move any sensitive conversations off the platform and to private communication methods before any sensitive information is revealed.

Boost Your Most Impactful Posts

If you happen to post something that sees a lot of organic traffic—traffic that happens naturally—you have the opportunity to boost it to get it in front of more eyes, including those that don’t currently follow you.

We’ve explained the benefits of boosting posts in the past, but the basic steps are as follows:

  • Choose the post you want to boost
  • Click Boost post
  • Select your objective—whether you want to get someone to visit your website, engage with your brand, or send you a direct message
  • Select the call-to-action you want displayed
  • Choose your audience (something else we’ve covered before)
  • Set your budget and how long you want your post to be boosted

Take Advantage of Facebook’s Multimedia Options

Finally, it is important to remember that Facebook offers a variety of options in terms of your posts and their formats. You don’t have to stick to just words—and on top of that, you shouldn’t. Facebook allows you to use visual formats, like photos and videos, to your advantage, which have been shown to boost everything from engagement to information retention. Don’t overlook the opportunity to use these options to draw attention to your company, showcasing what your MSP has to offer and who your clients and prospects can look forward to working with.
